Long ago, you worked with her on a song for Blackout but it never got released.
I do not consider to have worked with her. I sent my song to her authors. It was just an idea that never been taker forward. Although she recorded with her voice, the song remained a demo. For some reason, people have heard that I had worked with Britney but this is not the case. If I had to work with Britney, we would make big hits (laughs)!


Have you two ever met?
No. I can not believe it, I never met Britney Spears (laughs)!

There's still time to call her with her new album in the works.
Perhaps, I talked with her team that we should definitely do something together. I respect her a lot, I love her. We'll see, I do not know what that could give but I love her, I've always been a fan. That would be nice.

How does it feel to be able to say you've launched the worldwide career of such a pop star?
I'm honoured. And happy it also arrived! (laughs) I'm serious, because no one really knows how something like that is going to happen. It's the same as anyone knowing they have something special. It's just about giving your all, doing what you love, accepting the obstacles and the sacrifices in your way. You can never predict! The rest is up to the good will of the world, of God...

Did you dream of such an international explosion?
Of course! It was a dream of mine, I told myself daily I wanted to find the next Madonna. I swear. It was my dream. And it came true.

But in the studio with Gaga back in the day, you had to know you were about to create global hits...
Ok! You see, in a sense yes, because you really believe what you're doing could become huge. But at the same time, you know that things don't always happen the way you wish they would. So you say "Ok, here we go, let's cross our fingers!" But of course when her people came into the studio to hear the songs they were like "My goodness, this is huge!" That was what we thought too, because we believed in what we were doing so much.

I have the impression that what happened between you and Lady Gaga, this musical and creative alchemy, doesn't often occur in every lifetime. Do you agree?
I can definitely agree that it doesn't occur often! (laughs) It's not something that happens all the time. I have lots of songs with other artists, but what happens with Gaga, it's really unique. I think it might happen again, though. Maybe... I believe it. But you can't know in advance... I'm working on several projects with artists where I think it might occur again. But it's not enough to just make some music. Other factors are important too. The stars must all be aligned.

You've worked on "The Fame" and "The Fame Monster", those are the fans' favorite albums.
And they're the best! I'm very proud of them.

She has a very interesting career right now...
Yes, it's true...

The whole world knows you're working with her on her new record.
We've done eight songs for her album. But I don't know if it's the direction she wants to go in. You know, other stuff comes in the path of big artists and they decide not to do this or that anymore.

In your view, is the music close to "The Fame"?
In fact, with our songs, what I tried to do was protect what the fans expect but also incorporate what she's after right now. It's a mix. So we'll have to wait and see... Anyway, I think she'll hit big, either with me or with other people. I wish her the best, no matter what she'll decide.

And so you don't always know if one of these eight songs will make the album, or all of them? I've seen she's been working with many people...
No, not at all. Nobody knows. I think even she doesn't know yet... Yeah, she's working with great people. She's trying to find just the right thing. We'll see if it works out!

Did you feel any pressure when you return to the studio after making such enormous hits like "Poker Face" or "Just Dance"?
I can't really say there was any pressure around us when we made these eight songs. Of course, there's a bit of fear with a case like this... But forgetting all that stuff is exactly the trick.

You tell yourself: "We made such crazy songs, I can't do any better?"
That's funny, I remember feeling just like that at the time. "Poker Face" had become so big. We'd done "LoveGame", "Just Dance" was number one. And when the idea came to do the reissue "The Fame Monster" many of friends told me "You're never gonna make something as big as "Poker Face"!" (laughs) I said: "I think I can, actually!" And we made "Bad Romance", and BOOM! It was even bigger.

咁應該係佢本人未知想行咩路線好

不過而家歐美樂壇都漸漸香港樂壇化
佢再咁樣 條路一 ...
