當然,我對Sophy的唱作實力絕對予以高度肯定;而她願意嘗試涉獵在香港主流音樂中較少見的音樂風格、製作一張有方向而風格統一的專輯,也值得我們肯定及讚賞。在《Sophrology》這張作用如同是Introduction To Sophy Wong的專輯之後,我亦慶幸她很快就擺脫了所謂的「新人光環」,讓人知道即使是出道短短兩年的新人也能夠有想法、有方向;更值得安慰的是,王嘉儀在最新專輯中依然能做到我手寫我心、沒有跟著大隊走,並且比起《Sophrology》更靠向偏鋒,有望逐漸成為香港樂壇的一個異流;而即管《QUARTER》不完美也不夠出色,甚至予我有種眼高手低之感,這張專輯仍是近年香港樂壇為數不多有稜角、有態度的作品之一。王嘉儀下一步要想的,是如何將自己的音樂提升至能夠「承載」她的態度的層次,而不致於如現時這部「超載」的升降機一樣,上不了更高的樓層、站不到世界之巔。
Having learnt on Sophy's facebook that she might not release "Quarter" on CD after all, I have bought my first ever digital EP. Comparing to Sophrology, I feel that the melodies of the songs in "Quarter" 跌左 volt. However, 我自己對香港 indie 唱作歌手係有多D leeway (特別係曲). It's because most of them tend to focus on 高質 lyrics (with really unique themes and subject matters), and 獨特編曲 due to creative reasons and/or financial restrains.
"Leaving Home" 編曲 & 詞 are totally my cup of tea. I think Sophy cleverly tailored the melody to suit her voice.
Love the lyric of "美麗新世界", melody could have been better.
The melody of "In Between" (Sophy with Kiri Tse) is actually quite catchy. I just hope that there was a Cantonese Version Maybe I should give it a crack myself
