Thank you 艾石仔 for the great article.
I was born in HK and now live overseas. As a die-hard Cantopop music fan, I think it is sad the TV / radio media allow a few singers and record companies to monopolise top music awards in the last 15 years or so. I miss the good old times when good music was the key to a singer's yearly popularity. Like Sally Yeh had a great year in 1988 because of <祝福>, had a quiet year in 1989 and then back in the spotlight in 1990 with <珍重>, <焚心以火> & <秋去秋來>. Sadly, she sat through the whole night supporting other singers in the 2002 903叱咤樂壇流行榜頒獎典禮 with <傷逝>大熱倒灶. I also Loved it when Miriam Yeung got Female Gold in 2000, despite her record company was heading towards it's shutdown.
I am glad we have online forums like this to share our love for Cantopop music. I am also happy that some newcomers are forced to become more creative (and independent) when producing and marketing their music.
Let's all keep our love for Cantopop music alive, with love |
